World Micro began in 1995 with one employee and a dream. Now over ten years later, World Micro has grown to nearly fifty employees, and has grown on average thirty percent per year. The two World Micro subsidiaries have achieved leading positions in their respective industries, and the company owns the operational headquarters and warehouse that it occupies. Financially the company is very strong enjoying a tremendous cash and credit position, and is debt free.
The following background on the Management Team highlights the rich heritage the company draws upon to continue its steady growth.
After attending Western Carolina University in the early 1990's, Dan moved to Clearwater, Florida to start a career in the brokerage business. He worked with Donald & Company Securities from 1992 through 2002 where he managed accounts and learned many useful skills that continue to be accretive today. He is currently a registered representative with Raymond James & Associates and has been affiliated with that firm since 2002.
While working in the brokerage business, he co-founded World Micro Components in 1995. The business was subsequently moved from Clearwater to Atlanta and that's when things began to happen. Dan has provided clear leadership as President and directly manages all financials aspects of the business.
Dan has been happily married for 7 years to his wife, Terri and they have two children Hanna and Jacob.
Todd Ballew recently joined World Micro bringing a rich and diverse background in management and sales. After 4 years in the Navy, Todd went to school at Old Dominion University majoring in Marketing. He spent ten years with Harris Corporation as a Sales Representative and National Sales Trainer based out of the corporate HQ. His career continued with stints as a District Manager, and a Regional Manager overseeing sales, technical services and administration for 8 offices in the Western US.
His career includes Sales and Management experience with the following: Basic Four Computer Corporation as District Manager, Regional Manager with 16 Offices throughout the West; Unisys as Marketing Manager for their Communications Division. Managed $100M account covering Pac Bell and US West; National Sales Manager with an OEM working with direct clients and the distribution channel.; Business owner of a Systems Integration Business; VP of Market Origination for a operating division of Shell; President of Initiative One, a Management Consulting Company.
Todd is married to his wife Susan for 32 years and he has 5 children. He relocated to Atlanta to settle near their children and grandchildren.
After completing his degrees in both Economics and Criminal Justice at Appalachian State University in 1995, Chris decided to take a chance with something outside of his degree. Straight of out college, Chris, as Co-Founder, opened the Atlanta office for World Micro Components, Inc. in the winter of 1995. With training in economics and a passion for sales since his childhood, Chris was well prepared to start, develop, and grow the sales and operations of World Micro through the first twelve years of operation.
Chris has personally overseen all aspects of the business including sales, operations, software development, training, and the hiring of over 40 employees. The success of World Micro has been a direct result of his leadership and passion to succeed. Revenues have gone from only $300,000 in 1995, to an estimated $20,000,000 in 2007. Chris is now directly involved in the Operations, Strategic Planning of the company, and the continued development of world-class software that has enabled World Micro to maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace.
Chris is happily married to his wife of 3 years, Brooke, and they recently celebrated the birth of their son, Hayden.
