San Diego, CA August 20, 2006: Kontron Expands its ETX Certified Partner Program, Community of Qualified Carrier Board Designers Continues to Grow: Kontron announces the expansion of the Kontron ETX Certified Design Partner program to include three new memebers in the Americas. Boston Design Solutions, Access I/O Products, and World Micro join the community of carrier board designers that support Kontron's expansive ETX product family of highly integrated Computer-On-Module products. Atlanta, GA July15, 2006: The Embedded Division of World Micro was selected by Via Technologies as a Tier One Partner: Via Technologies' Embedded Division has selected World Micro to become one of their four Tier One Partners in the United States. Via's Embedded Group is responsible for sales and marketing of the Award winning EPIA Mini-ITX series of Single Board Computers, and the soon to be announced Nano-ITX boards. These small form factor boards are developed and designed for industrial, medical, militrary, and other computing applications where a smaller form factor combined with a long-life product is required. Via became acquainted with what World Micro was accomplishing in the Embedded Computing world, and wanted to work with a company who understands the technology and has the ability to map out true solutions Engineers require when designing computing based products into their design process.
Atlanta, GA May 27, 2006: The "Component Obsolescence Group" (COG) in the UK invites World Micro's Vice President to speak at their Quarterly Meeting: Chris Ellsworth was invited to be a guest speaker at the COG's quaterly meeting in Llandrindod Wells, Powys, Wales. The topic was on "How Purchasing Managers and Engineers of leading manufacturers can successfully manage shrinking inventory, allocations, End-Of-Life notices, and Obsolescence, even if your product life cycles extend way beyond normal commercial designs." Presenting to over 125 Design Engineers and Electronic Professionals from major OEM corporations, Mr. Ellsworth effectively communicated how valuable the Independent Distribution Channel is to the Electronics Industry, and many ways OEMs can use them to extend product life cycles out for years. Many questions were generated in a lively discussion that followed.
Atlanta, GA April 20, 2006: World Micro Embedded Division is selected by General Touch Technology as a National Franchise Distributor: General Touch Technology, Inc. (GTT) has signed a National Franchise Distribution Agreeement with World Micro's Embedded Division to represent their cutting edge SAW Touch Technology to OEMs throughout the United States and Canada. GTT's mature Surface Acoustic Wave Technology has been field proven in Asia with leading OEMs such as IBM and Olivetti. GTT is quickly penetrating the North American marketplace to compete again ELO Touch, who held the patent for SAW Touch technology prior to February 2005. This strengthens World Micro's Embedded Divisions focus on bringing world class Computing and LCD based solutions to the engineers of our valued OEM customers.
Atlanta, GA March 12, 2006: World Micro Components announces a Franchise Distribution Agreement with Barker MicroFarad, Inc.: Barker MicroFarad, Inc. is a leading Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor manufacturer whose roots go back to World War II days. Former Sprague employees purchased the Sprague manufacturing facility in Hillsdale, VA and have established BMI as a manufacturer of high quality, high reliability aluminum electrolytic capacitors. BMI currently offers a broad range of Axial- and Radial-leaded DC capacitors, as well as a full line of AC Motor Start capacitors. World Micro will distribute their DC product lines into their existing customer base, and seek to locate new design opportunities working at the engineering level.
Atlanta, GA February 3, 2006: Leading NEC Relay, Surge Suppression, andWireless Antenna Manufacturer, World Products, Inc., Extends Franchised Distribution Agreement to World Micro Components, Inc.: World Products and World Micro have mutually agreed to develop a Franchised Distribution relationship, in order to increase design win opportunities and exposure of WPI products with World Micro's large OEM customer base. Through the Hybrid business model, World Micro regularly calls on design engineers who are tasked with designing new products. It is our goal to introduce leading manufacturers products at the dewsign stage of the product life cycle, whose products may not be seen, due to large distributor tendencies of offering only Tier 1 products.
